About the project

The Tien Giang General Hospital project was newly built in Phuoc Thanh commune, My Tho city, on an area of ​​10 hectares. There are four functional areas consist of 28 departments with patient beds and 11 departments without the patient bed. The main building is built with 10 floors, and 1 basement with a total investment of 2,350 billion VND. This is considered a large-scale general hospital project with a variety of rooms and usages such as emergency rooms, laboratory rooms, and inpatient departments with up to 1,000 beds.

Challenge

The air conditioning system is calculated and designed based on architecture requirements which contain the purposes of the large-scale hospital and the function of each area. Compared with the original design of the consultant, some room air conditioners (wall-mounted type) and cassettes in the N1 area have a copper pipe exceeding the maximum allowed length. Normally, according to the manufacturer's regulations, if the length is exceeded the maximum length by 20m to 50m, the efficiency will be reduced by 5% -15%, respectively. The assembly of the long pipe will reduce the cooling capacity, the compressor frequently gets hot due to overload for a long time. Therefore, the air conditioning system will be damaged easily which shortens the product lifecycle.

Solution

To solve this problem, the engineers of Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam have coordinated carefully with construction engineers to survey the installation location of the outdoor unit, copper pipes, condensate drain pipes. Thus, we can give the solution to move the outdoor unit, change the route of copper pipes, condensate drain pipes to not only ensure the technical standards and regulations of the manufacturer but also increase the aesthetics for the hospital.

In addition to this solution, thanks to the consulting support of Mitsubishi Electric Viet Nam engineers, the air conditioning system will reduce overload for the power generators during the power outage. The hospital was equipped with a large-capacity electric generator to ensure the light, the air conditioning system, machinery, and other equipment. Therefore, if the power outage happened in areas of emergency, laboratory, and inpatient departments with more than 1,000 beds, the electric generator responds quickly, and the medical examination still can be proceeded as normal.

And most of all, the power supply to the operating rooms, resuscitation departments, emergency, must be prioritized during power shortage. Mitsubishi Electric air condition system enables to optimize power usage and reduce overload for power generator by turning off or switching to fan mode in non-priority rooms.

The outstanding air conditioning system

The new General Hospital of Tien Giang Province is a key community project, intending to meet the needs of local people for medical examination and treatment. At the same time, reducing the overload for higher-level hospitals. Understanding the importance of this project, Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam has proposed a comprehensive solution with a variety of products, including:

• 82 outdoor units with capacity from 12HP up to 48HP.
• 920 indoor units include 675 units of 4-way cassette type, 8 units of 2-way cassette type, 53 units of ducted type, and 184 units of wall-mounted type.
• Central controller, remote and other accessories for air-conditioner.

Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) City Multi system will be installed in doctors' rooms, deputy heads of departments, heads of departments, briefing rooms, clean warehouses, emergency rooms, laboratory rooms, etc.

The room air conditioner will be equipped at patient rooms, doctor's relaxing rooms, ultrasound rooms, etc.
