To create a technology playground to develop the Heat & Refrigeration Engineer students’ creative ideas towards the total solutions for smart, energy-saving buildings and sustainable development in the long term, this year, Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam (MEVN) organizes the contest "Sustainable Initiatives: The Pioneer in Green Building Solutions". The contest has the participation of 4 Universities in Ho Chi Minh City, including the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, University of Agriculture and Forestry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, and Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.

Through the competition, students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in practice, and at the same time can access the modern equipment. In addition, this is also a chance to help them expand their knowledge about the total solutions for buildings from one of the leading brands in the production and sales of electrical and electronic equipment and systems - Mitsubishi Electric.

I. Structure of the competition:

The competition is expected to have 40 teams, each team has 3 members. Each team will do research and present their project by themselves in the scope of the specified criteria. The project must be completed within the time specified by the organizer.

First round: 40 teams

In the First Round, based on the idea of the registered teams, each university will select 10 teams of itself. Based on/ Relying on each team’s achievement, the examination committee of each university will choose two representatives to attend the Final Round.

Final round: 8 teams

The final round will be held at Ho Chi Minh University of Technology.

II. Eligible applicant

All of the undergraduate students from four (04) above universities can apply for this Competition.

III. Criteria for Score

In the Final Round, each team's project will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Content: 70%

1. Technical standards (30%)

Comply with basic technical standards (TCVN, ASHRAE...)

2. Innovative, energy-saving (25%)

New and innovative solutions.
Do not use finished solutions.
Compare energy efficiency with traditional solutions.

3. Practical application (10%)

Practical solutions for real projects
Technical economic analysis – TCO

4. The standard form of presentation (5%)

Presentation form: 50 -70 pages, attached drawings, calculations...
Submit assignments on time (14 days before the official test date)

Presentation skills: 30%

1. Presentation (5%)
2. Presentation skills (10%)
3. Answer questions/ Q&A (15%)

IV. Other requirements for the participating team

1. Participating teams must do research and present the topics by themselves
2. Each participating team will use Mitsubishi Electric products according to the reference rate (50% of project air conditioner system, 50% of other products such as BMS building control system, LVS switching system, UPS power storage system, etc.).
3. The team's project should be creative and practical.
4. Project topics for the Competition should be chosen based on the following criteria:

+ Office building: > 10 floors, floor area > 6,000 m2
+ Commercial center, complex building: > 6,000 m2
+ Hotels, resorts: 5 stars, > 200 rooms
+ Hospital: 500 – 1,000 beds
+ Factory: > 10,000 m2
+ Datacenter: > 100 shelves

5. All projects must focus on the topic "The Sustainable of The pioneer in Green Building Solutions – Mitsubishi Electric 2021”

6. All teams should use Mitsubishi Electric products and software (Candidates are not mandatory to use the products and software provided by MEVN. They could use other products and software if the products are not provided by MEVN or the software provided by MEVN is not suitable.)

+ Software to calculate cooling capacity.
+ Software to select and calculate VRF equipment, central heating system, heat recovery ventilation, electrical equipment.

7.The main structure of the project is in the following order: Interpretation - Description - Principal diagram - Equipment selection - Analysis and evaluation of economic and technical criteria.

V. Award:

The award includes one First Prize, two Second Prizes, two Third Prize, three Extra Prizes, and one Creativity Prize.

1. 1^st Prize Team will receive:

30,000,000 VND in cash
01 Mitsubishi Electric Souvenir Championship Cup
01 Certificate from Organizing Committee
01 electric fan model LV16 for each member
01 3-door refrigerator model CGX41 for the university with the first prize team.

2. 2^nd Prize Team will receive:

15,000,000 VND in cash
01 Certificate from Organizing Committee
01 electric fan model R16 for each member
01 2-door refrigerator model FC29 for the university with the second prize team.

9,000,000 VND in cash

5.Creativity Prize Team will receive:

9,000,000 VND in cash.

VI. Competition time:

First round: within October (5-20/10/2021) 2021
Final round: Estimate on 16th December 2021

VII. Other provisions:

- For situations not mentioned in these Rules, the participating teams must follow the decision from the Organizing Committee.
- Questions related to the competition, students, and teams can be sent to the teachers in charge directly at the school. The teachers will be the bridge to contact Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam.
- Changes to the Competition rules and other support will also be announced by the Organizing Committee via the Mitsubishi Electric Facebook, Website, as well as on other suitable media.
- Students and participating teams must ensure to follow the instructions from the Organizing Committee and promptly notify arising issue.
- Travel expenses and meals during the competition will not be offered by the Organizing Committee except for some cases.
