Press Release - Cooperation for the Development of Tan Chau General Education


On December 2nd, 2021, two STEM LABS and one STEM GARDEN were officially inaugurated at three secondary schools in Tay Ninh (Thi Tran Tan Chau Secondary School, Suoi Day Secondary School, and Thanh Dong Secondary School). This is a project in the series of Sustainability Initiative CSR of Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam.

The ceremony was organized successfully with the participation of parties, including:

- Representative of Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam
- Representative of Teach For Vietnam
- Leader of Tan Chau District People's Committee
- Leader of Tan Chau Education and Training Department
- Principals of secondary schools: Town, Thanh Dong, Suoi Day
- Representative of the Center for Culture, Sports and Communication of Tan Chau district

Accordingly, Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam accompanies Teach For Vietnam to sponsor Stem environment and support teachers for schools in Tan Chau, Tay Ninh:

1) Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam sponsored 01 Stem Garden (Suoi Day Secondary School) and 02 Stem Labs (Thi Tran Tan Chau Secondary School and Thanh Dong Secondary School) and supported Teach For Viet Nam's teachers with total funding of 310,000,000 VND.

2) Teach For Vietnam and Tan Chau Department of Education and Training will work together and promote the development of students and teachers at primary and secondary levels through a co-creation and empowerment approach for teachers and students in the practical implementation of educational programs, models, and activities suitable to the characteristics and the students' requirements, the goals of general education, and the educational plans of the department and the school. As follows:

- Firstly, Teach For Vietnam will provide a team of pioneering teachers to teach 03 extra-curricular and curricular programs at a number of primary and secondary schools selected by both parties in the district :

1. Integrated English Group of 21st Century Skills at Primary and Secondary levels.
2. STEM-oriented education at the lower secondary level.
3. Vocational Education and Entrepreneurship at the lower secondary level.

All of Teach For Vietnam's extra-curricular programs are designed according to the competency development approach for learners and are professionally appraised by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
Teach For Vietnam's programs are taught in the direction of integrating 21st-century competencies (group of thinking skills: creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision making, self-learning throughout Life skills group; Working skills group: communication, cooperation, and teamwork; Life skills group in a global society: civic consciousness, life, and career, personal and social responsibility; Competency group transformational forces include: new value creation, adaptation to stress and dilemmas, and accountability).
- Second, Teach For Vietnam will cooperate with universities, experts in education, technology, environment, and agriculture to support schools in renewing teaching methods and improving professional quality for teachers of public schools in Tan Chau district. This is to meet the requirements of the new general education program in the direction of capacity development and to meet the lifelong learning needs of teachers.
Tan Chau district is adjacent to Cambodia, Binh Phuoc province, Tan Bien district, Duong Minh Chau district, and Tay Ninh city. The total number of administrative units is 12 including 1 town and 11 communes. The total area of ​​the district is 1,103.20 km². The population in 2019 is 134,743 people, the population density is 122 people/km². Tan Chau is the district with the largest natural area in the province, with a total area of ​​1,113.20 km² (accounting for a quarter of the province's natural area). Tan Chau has the strength to develop a solar power economy, large agriculture, and farm economy.

Tan Chau Department of Education and Training is the largest department in Tay Ninh province. The total number of schools is 63 schools (18 kindergartens; 31 primary schools; 14 secondary schools). The total number of students is 12,479 high school students (432 classes) and 7,236 middle school students (185 classes) which many students are Cham and Khmer. The total number of teachers and administrators is 1270 teachers. Tan Chau Department of Education and Training is at the forefront of innovation, constantly improving and enhancing the quality of universal and quality education. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thinh Hung - Head of Tan Chau Department of Education and Training wished, "The cooperation program will be implemented in the long term, creating a premise for the expansion of innovative educational activities in Tan Chau as well as in the future, like other localities in Tay Ninh.”
